In 1977 House of Ruth was founded in Maryland and today it stands as one of the nations most comprehensive domestic violence centers. “The House of Ruth Maryland leads the fight to end violence against women and their children by confronting the attitudes, behaviors, and systems that perpetuate it, and by providing victims with the services necessary to rebuild their lives safely and free of fear.” Through donations, volunteering, fundraising events, training and more, House of Ruth aims to empower women and give them a chance for a healthier life.
With the Holidays comes the reminder of those who cannot celebrate the way they would hope to. In order to be a small part in helping fight the large issue that is domestic violence, EPIC adopted a family this month. We received an anonymous Christmas list for a mother and her three children, and then the EPIC team worked together to bring in gifts to fulfill their wishes! In addition to adopting a family, EPIC donated numerous items to Ruth’s Closet. Ruth’s Closet is a place where women can shop for new and like-new stylish clothing and accessories.
Adopting a family and donating fashionable items is just two simple ways that we are trying to make a difference. We here at EPIC encourage you to do your part this holiday season and bring cheer into someone else’s life!
