In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Epic Staff wanted to dedicate the October volunteer activity to this particular cause. We decided to support the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure which is an annual race raising funds and awareness for breast cancer. They raise funds for research, resources, and education and are able to provide stats supporting the impact they’ve made.
This was their 24th annual race located in Hunt Valley which is just outside of Baltimore, MD, Epic’s hometown. Their website states, “More than 10,000 participants and spectators came together to celebrate survivors, honor those living with breast cancer, and remember those we have lost.” With races all across the country, these numbers are not only incredible but encouraging, providing hope for anyone affected.
In addition to our focus on the Susan G Komen foundation, we were honored to participate in Inside Cheerleading’s ‘A Month of Hope’ breast cancer awareness giveaway. Every day for the entire month of October they organized pink themed prizes from various cheer related businesses. Each giveaway post was accompanied by a fact about breast cancer, encouraging their follower’s to be educated and informed. We were so excited to be a part of this campaign since our industry is predominantly women from coaches to athletes who should be proactive about breast cancer.
